As an OSG, you’ll play a key role in supporting the smooth and safe running of the prison.
As part of our prison support team, your work will be varied and help to keep the prison moving. You’ll be part of a diverse team, making an impact and doing meaningful work in our prisons.
This is an active role where you’ll be doing a range of physical tasks.
Working in a prison is fast-paced and varied and no two days are the same. You’ll work with a range of people and perform a variety of tasks such as security and searches at the gate, to managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring phone calls and CCTV.
The OSG job is a prison support role, your contact with prisoners tends to be limited. Although, depending on the prison, you may interact with prisoners occasionally.
The OSG role will give you significant knowledge and experience of how a prison operates. It can provide opportunities to move into other prison jobs such as Prison Officer or admin roles.
You don’t need any qualifications to do this job. Helping to keep a prison running smoothly and safely requires good judgement, common sense, good communication, responsibility and, above all, teamwork. For further information about the role of an OSG please visit our website
