National - £35,335 to £37,847
London - £40,014 to £42,859

Location: Any LAA Office
Please note that whilst this role is open to all MOJ staff, you can only apply for London, Cambridge and Brighton offices if you are a current LAA staff member based in those offices. This is due to and in line with the LAA's Location Strategy and the Cabinet Office's Places for Growth Strategy.
Minimum Working Pattern:

To meet legal requirements, if you are between the ages 16-18 and you are a successful candidate, you will be required to complete an apprenticeship after your initial on the job training.
We are an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). We are responsible for operationally administering the legal aid fund to provide criminal and civil legal aid advice to people in England and Wales.

The role of Risk & Assurance Advisor sits at the heart of LAA risk management, supporting the Risk & Assurance team in the facilitation of improvement in our risk maturity and to help ensure the LAA continues to be a leading example of best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with colleagues of all levels across the business to ensure risk is being managed effectively and corporate risks are escalated and reported on promptly and clearly.
Analyse sometimes complex and detailed information to make recommendations on how to simplify or report on risk and assurance more clearly.
Work with key stakeholders across the LAA to build capability in risk management, ensuring they are aligning with central strategies.
Work with risk leads to carry out local deep-dives for discussion at executive forums such as Finance and Risk Committee and People & Operations Committee.
Work with Deputy Directors to update their annual assurance statements.
Support the development and integration of the LAA’s Assurance Framework.
Provide support for the LAA’s Risk & Assurance Working Group and take an active role in engaging with the LAA’s risk community.
Contribute to the drafting of high-quality papers and reports for audiences such as LAA executive committees and MoJ senior governance forums, providing assurance over how risks are being managed across the business.
Build relationships with colleagues across wider MoJ, including Justice Digital and the Risk Centre of Expertise.
Deputise for the Risk & Assurance Manager where required, including presenting at committees and chairing the Risk & Assurance Working Group.
Work flexibly across the team to lead on or contribute to standalone projects or pieces of work relevant to Risk & Assurance.
Essential Knowledge, Experience and skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently liaise with staff of all levels
The ability to demonstrate how your work fits into wider organisational objectives
The ability to build collaborative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and to use your influencing skills to improve the quality of reporting
Effective time management skills, and the proven ability to prioritise and manage own workload
The ability to analyse complex quantitative and qualitative information and to generate reports and narratives that summarise this according to the audience
Experience in risk management
Desirable Knowledge, Experience and skills
An understanding of the LAA’s strategic and operational objectives
Knowledge of the principles set out in the Orange Book
