About the Role:
The DD Employee Experience team is delivering strategically enabling work to enable employees in the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to thrive. MoJ people priorities are including capacity, capability and employee experience. This is an exciting time to join the team as employee experience is a key priority of Civil Service reform, reflected in MOJ people priorities and supporting the MOJ Justice Delivery Plan.
In this role you will work closely with the G7 Head of EX Insights and SEO to help the wider team translate strategic questions into practical steps to test & evaluate and harness available data to provide answers, develop trials, observation and provide insight into key levers of employee experience.
It will include exploratory research and insight, synthesising information and data, pulling out themes and trends from existing data. Finding and discover ways of filling gaps in knowledge and insight through innovative means and collaboration across the organisation.

This role provides a chance to consider how you can bring your experience into a dynamic evolving context with an opportunity to shape insight components within an evolving Employee Experience framework. The work of this role will support understanding why employee experience outcomes occur and determine which interventions are most likely to improve them.
This includes:
Translate strategic questions into practical steps to test & evaluate and harness available data to provide answers, develop trials, observation and provide insight into key levers of employee experience. Innovate how we collate qualitative and quantitative data sources.
Implementing evaluation strategies, plans and techniques that that are tailored and effectively assesses how the context and interventions across employee experience and wellbeing enable staff to thrive and perform.
Utilising a range of evaluation models and techniques to produce in-depth evaluation reports that give clear insights to inform realistic, achievable and stretching recommendations. This will involve purposeful gathering and analysis of data (including qualitative), analysis from relevant sources about the quality, worth and impact of capability interventions and organisational conditions on employee experience.
Effective collaboration across the wider team and engagement with a range of stakeholders to enable organisational learning, identifying barriers and opportunities and defining ‘what good looks like’ in terms of employee experience and the conditions needed to enable it.
Utilising knowledge of the latest thinking, research and identifying appropriate opportunities to ensure that we are continually pursing best practice in employee experience, conducting horizon scanning activities as well as learning from others.

Support practical aspects during key operational surge phases of the Civil Service People Survey

This pivotal role directly influences the Ministry of Justice’s ability to effectively understand and improve the factors that shape employee experience and enable the effective application of capability. By providing comprehensive insights and actionable recommendations, you will significantly contribute to strategic decision-making, foster continuous improvement across the organisation, and help build a workplace environment that enables employees to perform at their best.
Success in this role will be demonstrated through the generation of high-quality insight and evaluation that improves understanding of employee experience, informs strategic decisions and supports the development of effective interventions.
Key Accountabilities, responsibilities, and deliverables:
Synthesize qualitative and quantitative evidence from multiple sources to identify themes, patterns and emerging trends, translating findings into clear strategic insights for decision-makers. Demonstrating strategic thinking in providing reports and updates.
Identify and apply appropriate evaluation approaches, both formal and informal.
Design insightful evaluation questions and cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, using observation, conversations, surveys, focus groups, and virtual workshops, etc. to gather meaningful data.
Reflect on the strategic alignment and proportionality of gathering insight, ensuring that our work is relentlessly focused on the most meaningful and transformative challenges and opportunities of the organisation.
Effectively communicate findings to stakeholders, challenging the status quo in a positive manner, influencing decision-making and ensuring recommendations translate into tangible actions. Applying strong interpersonal skills to build and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships based on trust.
Conduct ongoing research and horizon scanning to continuously integrate innovative evaluation and insight techniques and best practices. Demonstrating relentless curiosity.
Advising stakeholders, influencing their approach to evaluation and impact focus as a mindset and strategic tool, then developing and conducting evaluation activities.
Work autonomously and collaboratively within an outcome focused, flexible environment.

Support operational surge phases of the MoJ-wide People Survey.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Strategic thinking change agent

Research and evaluation approaches in the widest sense

Strong drafting, presentation, oral and written communication skills
Utilise a high degree of autonomy and working on own initiative.

Desirable:
Experience with evaluation principles, Theory of Change methodologies.
Systems thinking
Behavioural change experience
Experience of using Power BI, or similar tools, to visualise insight and build dashboards.
