About us
HMCTS is an agency of the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family Courts and Tribunals in England and Wales. Our roles support our service users and colleagues within HMCTS, where people and businesses access potentially life-changing justice. If you are interested in developing a career with a real purpose, please apply.
Your role
Join our Regional Support Unit (RSU) as a Business Support Manager and play a key role in supporting the National Head of Legal Operations for Civil, Family and Tribunals (CF&T) and their Senior Leadership Team. This is a dynamic and varied role at the heart of National Services, providing high-quality business management, leadership support, and coordination across a complex operational environment.
As a Business Support Manager, you will act as a trusted partner to the National Head of Legal Operations and the wider Senior Leadership Team, helping to ensure the smooth and effective running of the directorate. You will oversee diary and workflow management, coordinate leadership meetings and communications, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of strategic and operational priorities.
You may manage a small team of Diary Managers in the future, ensuring consistent and professional support is provided across the leadership team. The role includes preparing briefings, submissions, presentations, governance papers, and correspondence on behalf of senior leaders, as well as supporting business planning, performance reporting, risk management, and assurance activity.
Working in a fast-paced and high-profile environment, you will be responsible for anticipating priorities, managing competing demands, and ensuring senior leaders are equipped with the information and support required to make informed decisions. You will use sound judgement, strong organisational skills, and excellent attention to detail to help drive effective leadership and operational delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of Civil, Family and Tribunals Legal Operations, contributing to the effective delivery of justice services and supporting senior leaders to achieve strategic objectives across National Services.
About you
Are you a confident, highly organised professional ready to support senior leaders at the heart of regional operations?
If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. You will bring a strong track record of providing executive-level business support and be comfortable acting as Business Manager to senior leaders, including National Head of Legal Operations for Civil, Family and Tribunals (CF&T). You’ll demonstrate excellent judgement in managing high-level correspondence, drafting submissions, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll possess outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to represent senior leadership effectively and facilitate regional meetings when required. A proactive and adaptable approach is essential, as is the ability to analyse and interpret data to support performance insight and decision-making.
Experience or knowledge of health and safety, fire safety, and security policies is highly desirable, along with an understanding of audit and inspection processes. You’ll be a natural collaborator, capable of working across teams and directorates, and bring a calm, solutions-focused mindset to a fast-paced and high-profile environment.
